Our Story
Hi, I’m Andrew! A Park Slope Dad who’s thought a lot about helping children find their unique gift, or what I like to call, “their thing.”
I discovered music can be a great path for personal development and discovery, even if they never become a professional musician. And there’s now tons of studies proving the brain development benefits of learning an instrument.
But how did I get here? It’s the early 2000s and my son Alejandro is in preschool. It’s a lovely school and yet, I can’t leave the classroom. Alejandro has deep attachment issues. He is so terrified that I have to sit in the corner of the class.
Through the Musicolor Method, we merge playful melodies with pivotal life skills ensuring your child looks forward to every lesson.
Lessons in the familiar surrounds of home mean a relaxed child, optimal for absorbing both music and life skills.
Inculcating values of discipline and routine becomes more effective in a familiar setting, turning daily home routines into learning experiences.
Early introduction to music fosters confidence, helping them express, communicate, and shite even beyond the piano.
By making lessons a joyous home event, we inspire a lifelong curiosity and love for learning.

"My daughter has been a student at Park Slope Music Lessons for years and it's been a fabulous experience. Piano has helped provide her with a different approach to thinking and learning and she truly enjoys it. The instructors are fantastic and do an amazing job connecting with each student and tailoring their approach to their individual needs. Thank you so much!"
- Kevin DeNoia
"My daughter has never sought to play music professionally, so her continued commitment to her weekly lessons for 12+ years (even with her busy high school schedule), is a testament to how much she truly enjoys being part of the Park Slope Music Lessons family!"
- Caroline Lee
We recommend all children start with at least 6 months of piano/keyboard. Because it is physically easier to produce sound, and is visually logically laid out, it builds a foundation quickly and makes comprehension faster. This makes transferring to ANY other instrument much quicker, enjoyable and understandable. However, for children above the age of 8 years old, it is possible to start on any instrument, though we highly recommend keyboard as a foundation.

We always start with two trial lessons to ensure the best match between your child and the teacher. These trial lessons are 30 minutes each, one week apart and are $75 each. If everything is great, we will move to monthly tuition.

We start with playing first using color as educational scaffolding. This builds instant excitement, enthusiasm and confidence to keep going when things get more complicated. Learning to read music is not going to happen overnight, in a week or even months. It can take years.
Yes we do - our Penguin Pals class is exactly that. Learn more and sign up here.

Musicolor Method provides a philosophy that any child should strive for excellence through music practice. We focus on fostering young, growing musicians in a manner which is creative and encouraging. This helps children to find their musical personality and perfect their craft through various instruments, be it the piano, the voice, the guitar, the ukulele or the drums.
When I say we are pursuing the pursuit of excellence, I mean it in every respect. We provide lessons for such instruments as the piano, voice, guitar, ukulele, bass, flute, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, flugelhorn, drums, percussion, violin, viola, tuba and even composing. Anything that grips your child’s imagination we will be able to facilitate the improvement of it in practical terms with no biases.
Our teachers are fond of teaching music and they always give their best to nurture every student. Be it the very first piano class for beginners or an advanced student aspiring to achieve something beyond their boundaries with their voice, this entire journey is centered around nurturing talent through imagination and most importantly love of music. Each step is celebrated and every effort is made toward bigger goals.
Musicolor Method is proud to render its services across numerous neighborhoods in Brooklyn and elsewhere, including:

We have developed the Musicolor Method with the aim of keeping the learning process fun while still working towards achieving success. The main piece is that the children’s attention span world over and in this case particularly is captured through combining different shades, shapes, and ideas in each lesson from the newest to the smallest in age.
We believe that every child has a spark of music waiting to flourish. With the blend of rigidity and playfulness, we improve students understanding of complicated topics without the frustration that normally accompanies such learning processes. It's about achieving order and fun at the same time. That state that assures the child that music is a fulfilling venture that helps the child to smile through the lessons.
Here at Musicolor Method we consider music more than just a collection of notes and instruments. Music is a road that requires patience, inventiveness and hard work – that is what should be nurtured in young minds whose sky is the limit. Thus, when our students leave a class, they do not only emerge as competent musicians, but also as powerful individuals who are ready to take the world by storm.
They may want to play the violin so well that they cannot be darkhorses, or they might strive to be the best songwriters – even these are scary thoughts – but each such lesson offers them means and motivational cures. Every child has a potential and, in our opinion, one hundred percent every child has to possess the maximal goals and work hard to achieve them.
In place of a discerning and nurturing framework for your child’s music lessons you may consult Musicolor Method. Accompany us in the hunger for improvement and see how your child’s interest towards musicality grows too! Call us now and have a first lesson with us!
